Outside of roster construction, one of Rose’s main tasks as the leader in the front office is to try and maintain high morale and camaraderie within the locker room.
Bringing in a star like Zion Williamson, who not only has a close relationship with one of the club’s current cornerstones in RJ Barrett and has an outward affinity for New York but who also produces like one of the top players in the association when on the court could prove to be the best of both worlds for the Knicks.
Of course, when discussing the forward, it’s impossible not to highlight his extensive injury history that, sadly, has held him to playing just 114 out of a potential total of 308 regular-season games throughout his four-year career.
That said, when on the floor, the 23-year-old has been nothing short of elite and boasts career averages of 25.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game on 60.5 percent shooting and has come across two All-Star nods as well.
This type of productivity could have a front office overlook his aforementioned concerns, especially one run by a man fighting for his job.
Recent rumblings suggest that the Knicks have already “checked in” with the Pelicans regarding Williamson’s availability (per Berman during his appearance on The Knicks Recap), thus making him a player fans must keep a close eye on moving forward.
